Day 3 – Sloth Mode, Sleepy Seminars, and the Plot Twist No One Asked For

This… was the hardest morning of the entire trip.

We slumped out of bed like two phones that looked like they were charging all night—but definitely weren’t. Half a brain cell and half-awake, we made our way down to breakfast hoping for a miracle.

It was better than the day before. I’d bump it up from “questionable food-shaped objects” to “edible with mild disappointment.” (Shoutout to the world’s first crunchy pancake that somehow wasn’t burnt. Impressive. Confusing. Slightly alarming.)

We grabbed our gear and headed back to the expo to knock out our last round of seminars.

Seminars, Coffee, and Brain Fog

We powered through most of the final sessions, soaking up as much knowledge as our slightly melted brains could hold. Then—bam—we were hit with a wave of product reveals, including one that made our inner dice goblins squeal:

FanRoll Dice.

If you’re a fan of advent calendars, dragons, blind bags, or just pretty click-clacks, you’re going to want to keep an eye on our store. There’s some seriously magical stuff coming down the pipeline, and I can’t wait to talk about it more during our next stream.

We skipped one of the last seminars to head back, pack up, and check out of the hotel. Luggage in hand, we returned to the convention center for a final lunch and one last hurrah.

Burger-Brat Bliss

Let me set the scene:

The smell of grilled burgers and bratwursts hit us before we even made it through the doors. My inner skinny dude (who normally naps under a pile of snacks) woke up instantly, yelling “FOOD!”

The burger was solid. But the brat?

Oh. My. Gods.

Beer-cooked something or other—whatever it was, I regret not writing it down. 11/10. Top shelf. I’d travel back just for that brat.

Anyway, now I’ve made myself hungry again.

The MVP of ACD

After lunch, we met up again with Josh from ACD, one of the reps who helped us a ton during the show. Josh, if you’re reading this—you rock. Seriously.

ACD, give that man a raise. He popped up with help and good vibes like a tabletop Jiminy Cricket every time we looked confused (which, let’s be honest, was often). His help alone is enough to make us loyal ACD customers for years to come.

That’s not to say the rest of the staff wasn’t just as stellar. Every single person we talked to was kind, helpful, and just genuinely into what they do. Huge props to the whole team for putting on such a well-run event.

Final Game: Riftbound (League of Legends TCG)

We closed out the expo with a demo of Riftbound, the new TCG from the League of Legends universe. Once you get the rules down, it’s a blast—clean mechanics, fun flow, and definitely something we want in the shop.

We’re hoping to get our hands on a few cases when it officially releases. It’s one to watch, for sure.

And with that, our time at the expo and Wisconsin came to a close.

Or… so we thought.

Day 3.5 – The Twist Ending

We made it to the airport, exhausted but happy—ready to celebrate our first completed distro expo with a smooth flight home.

But it seem the travel gods had one last encounter waiting.

Our flight was delayed by two hours.

Then the real announcement dropped: delayed until tomorrow.

Cue 150 tired, annoyed passengers slowly forming the politest angry mob you’ve ever seen. We joined the crowd at the help desk, where we were eventually comped a room at the Holiday Inn and given meal vouchers. Victory? Sort of.

After grabbing our luggage, we booked it to the shuttle and ended up laughing with the other refugees of Flight AYKMRN. It was one of those shared chaos moments that turns strangers into reluctant travel buddies.

We grabbed food, checked in, and booked a ride back to the airport for 5 a.m.

Then we crashed into bed, uncertain whether tomorrow would bring us home—or just more layovers and lore.
